This time we provide to open a Toshiba Satellite A300 to cater for a cleaning of the fan and heatsink.

We begin to work on the back. We open all the small panels, dismantle the battery and svitiamo all screws.We remove the hard disk.

Let us reverse the pc and we remove the plastic bar above the keyboard:

Now we can remove the keyboard by removing the remaining screws and unplugging every ribbon / flat cable:

At this point we leverage on the edges with some plastic tool (plectrum or phone card or old ATM) and raise the cover:

And finally here is the motherboard of our Toshiba Satellite A300:

In this photo we see the video card: we have to unscrew the screws and remove it from the motherboard, lifting it gently.

E ‘connected to it via a plug, once unscrewed the screws should come off easily. It ‘an atypical configuration because this card is put in’ sandwich ‘on another processor and the heat sink passes in between .. very very curious!

Svitiamo now the rest of the screws, fan connector and detach the entire block fan-heatsink:

We open the compartment that contains the fan and start our cleaning serving us the usual brush, compressed air and paper.

With paper we remove the thermal grease where there, and sostituiamola with other new. Do not touch the pieces of thermally conductive rubber, possibly replace them if they are damaged. Where there is the rubber of course we will not put any thermal paste.

Richiudiamo everything following the above steps and check that everything is working properly!

If after turning the computer does show a password prompt (request made by the bios) and prevent us start it, we have to follow a specific procedure to reset the BIOS (see separate article).
