I Forgot My Password Administrator Of Windows Server 2008 R2
Reset Password Administrator Windows Server 2008 R2 Installation DVD
If you have lost or do not remember the password on a domain Administrator Windows Server 2008 R2, we can try the following procedure.
What we need is a DVD to install the same version of Windows Server 2008: then we are careful whether this version 32bit, 64bit, datacenter, standard, enterprise edition and other versions.
The procedure is quite simple, just a few well-placed controls and resolves the problem.
Replacing The File Utilman.Exe
First we turn off the server and maintain boot the server from DVD by inserting a DVD to install Windows Server (same version installed): the Welcome screen, select “Repair your computer” (Repair your computer) in the bottom left.
We advanced to the point where there appears a screen where basically there is the ability to run the Command Prompt (Command Prompt) and select it.
Let’s open a command prompt and perform a backup of the file utilman.exe :
MOVE C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Utilman.exe C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Utilman.exe.bak
The next step is to copy cmd.exe renamed in Utilman.exe :
COPY C: \ Windows \ System32 \ cmd.exe C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Utilman.exe
At this point we can close and restart the server.
This time we do a normal start but, when we have to make a login, we click on the icon Ease of Access (Accessibility):
In this way, we just have to open Command Prompt with which we will change the password of Administrator with the following command
net user administrator *
After pressing enter you will be prompted to set a new password and confirm it.
Attention: of course you type the password on the screen NOT BE ‘DISPLAYED. Not preoccupiamocene …
Finally, once logged on, we must:
– Delete the file Utilman.exe;
– Rename Utilman.exe.bak original Utilman.exe.
That’s all !!!
