that are installed secretly in popular browsers like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Chrome.
The goal is to try to remedy this hassle try not to install additional software on our already ipercarico PC: To do this using programs whose execution does not provide in most cases no installation ..
What Do Toolbar?
The toolbar ‘malicious’, that is, those that are installed practically in secret and do not give any added value, create considerable problems for the pc and a lot of slow internet browsing. Basically just very little to meet the browser, which is the program we use to navigate in a condition like this:
Virtually instead view the home page we have chosen as the first page when the browser (eg page google.it as Home page) will be displayed far, with a search engine to say the least suspicious.
You will see a bar at the top that will only fill the screen with useless advertising, install malware (malicious software) and transfer our data and information on the web without our knowledge.
How many times there appeared a strange advertising browsers girlie scattered everywhere, with slogans like “flat stomach?” Or worse pseudo incomprehensible phrases in English ??
What Are The Most Troublesome Toolbar?
Many toolbar are classified as virtually virus and one of the most insidious and most common at the time of writing this article (April 2014), here are some of them:
Ask search toolbar
Delta Search Toolbar
Nation Zoom toolbar
Sweet IM Toolbar
In other cases, we are left on our PC toolbar in addition to other programs as malicious and unnecessary Iminent or worse or fake antivirus programs that promise to speed up your PC and showing screens as the following:
How Have Installed The Toolbar?
Obviously, no thinking human being (and not) would not even self-defeating the unhealthy idea of dirtying your PC with this junk software, installing deliberately these unnecessary toolbar. Instead, just install a program of any kind classified as ‘free’ (as a video codec, a program to download videos from YouTube, a PDF converter, a program to view streaming movies, etc.) that unintentionally during the installation process is installed automatically, so subtly hidden or written notices in lower case, one of these add-ons.
What Damage Do These Toolbar?
Practically filter everything we seek on the internet, control our movements and the sites we visit often and preventing or slowing down navigation; at best bombard us also pc advertising SPAM and windows advertising of any kind that open automatically in every case, at worst block us completametne pc. They are often classified as Virus or Adaware , even if most part of the antivirus can not block them neither to nor to remove them ..
How The Hell Are Removed ??
Unfortunately not just search between ‘Remove Programs’ the toolbar and try to uninstall it as you do with a normal program.Ideally the component will always be there. Or it is not always possible to manually reset the home page of the browser: after a reboot the troublesome start page back where he was. To remove these ‘junk’ normally use a variety of programs, all free (really free), all free of course from toolbar or adaware. These programs ‘life-saving’ is updated almost every day why they should be discharged and always run the latest version; in many cases are small programs run by UNA-TANTUM.
HERE ARE THE STEPS TO REMOVE THESE CURSED TOOLBAR:
Use Of JRT
This is one of the programs that DO NOT INSTALL MA Do IT ONCE ONLY and I use very frequently as the first, partly because it usually does not restart the computer after work.
You download from HERE :
Once downloaded and executed performs a check if there are new versions then it opens a DOS black screen as in the photo below and, after pressing any key, starts its magic and ends after a few minutes. Usually it closes automatically all open programs, so do not panic if you see the windows shut for themselves …
at the end of the work created on the desktop and open a text file with the report Craps eliminated. You can close it and delete it … with joy.
This is another program magical, constantly updated by the developers (almost every day !!) and does a great job.
You can download it HERE .
The funny thing is that until some time ago the small icon of this program NOT INSTALL MA Do IT ONLY ONCE was a cockroach … then they changed the image, perhaps because the authors have realized it was a bit out of place as icon. Anyway, the program begins by asking the authorization to execute (in French … .. in the latest versions). Give him the OK and then click the first icon (SCAN) and subsequently on the second (CLEAN).
After a very short time we will ask you to proceed with a reboot of the PC … do it and then go to the third step.
- Using rkill
Rkill is a program very similar to JRT. Even this is a program that is not installed but is run-off. Compared to the other makes some control over the status of firewall and other services to be active on Windows machines. Also this program opens a DOS window and eventually creates a text file with the results of the work done.
You can be downloaded from HERE .
This is another famous magic program that unlike previous NOT an antivirus NE ‘antispyware. In use, after installing it, usually to make cleaning your PC. But in our case we need to eliminate unnecessary programs (or inventories of dirt) that startano PC startup. In fact we could also use something already on the operating system (msconfig windows) CCLEANER but is much more simple and explanatory. We download the software from HERE (we used the free version) and installiamolo. Then run it and go directly into TOOLS – START.
Now, this is the only point where you need a minimum of – I do not say knowledge – but carefully. In fact we have to select items that we can identify and associate the toolbar above views, select these entries and click OFF. And if you see other items that appear to belong to programs you no longer use even disabled ones: please, do not delete them but inactive Make them just as you can possibly restore them should they return useful. Remember that with this activity do nothing but inhibit run when certain programs and is NOT therefore a removal of the latter: just reactivate and come back running at startup.
- Reset the configuration of the browser
Now we have almost certainly eliminated hope all that bothered, we have to clean up the browser as they could still have some residue inside. The things to do are two mainly: restoration of the home page and disabling add-ons. Here’s how to do:
Restoring Internet Explorer:
Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Reset -> select “Delete Personal Settings” -> I click Reset.
We can get to this window by opening Internet Explorer then -> Tools menu -> Options
In some older versions of Internet Explorer you are not the advanced menu but somewhere there still allows you to perform a reset.
Next time you start the browser will have the source page as your home page (usually page MSN or other of Microsoft): change is easy, just do it again and put the desired page in the space of the window ‘General’
The last step is to disable any add-ons. To do that we have to run Internet Explorer -> Arround the menu Tools -> Manage Add-ons
In the window that opens, you can select the components unwelcome (those associated with bad toolbar) and click Disable: you consider that most likely will find little or nothing, or only some minimal component tied to the toolbar already eliminated (programs run before have already done much of the work).
Avoid use disable useful components like Java, PDF, etc.
Restoring Google Chrome:
To perform a total reset Google Chrome often even a reinstallation leads to positive results: it is necessary to completely eliminate (indeed rename) the program folder that contains the configuration of the Windows Chrome.
This reset is usually the only way to remove the toolbar and more Chrome browser as this is among the most affected by malicious software: as a negative factor is that we will lose so all customizations (history, bookmarks, etc.) But in return the browser will return ‘original’ as just installed.
To do so, we must first set up temporary viewing files and folders so that they are visible the hidden ones.
We go to START -> Control Panel -> Folder Options and in the window that appears at the top, click on “View”. On some operating systems, like Windows XP, we can also get to this entry in the drop-down menu of explorer.
Among the various options, the option next to “Hidden files and folders” select “Show folders, files and drives hidden” (see photo below).
At this point we must find the folder “User Data” which is part of the configuration of Chrome.
To find it, try to click Start, and in the empty box type:
% Userprofile% \ AppData \ Local \ Google \ Chrome
or we can enter this coordinate in any window of windows, in the address bar:
The link will lead the folder configurations Google user in use, for example for me is: C: \ Users \ carlo \ AppData \ Local \ Google \ Chrome.
The thing to do now is rename this folder, for example in “User Data.old”. Without this we can turn off the display of hidden files.
We reboot now Chrome, we can see that will be completely restored!
Restore Mozilla Firefox:
Mozilla Firefox restore the initial configuration is really trivial. We should not do anything but open the browser and type the page address:
It will open a special screen with a nice button in the upper right corner named “Reset Firefox” …
Another way to get to that button is click on the menu Help -> Troubleshooting (see photo below).
This should restore the program.
- Install an antivirus seriously and make a thorough scan
Last step is to perform a thorough scan with an antivirus SERIOUS. To really do not mean one of those filth free but you need to install – also temporarily – something really functional.
Usually even if you do not want to spend money, at least for 30 days you can install a trial version of some product really functioning as:
Eset NOD32 Antivirus
Usually I use the second because it is a good compromise between speed and functionality: these two products are very expensive if you want then buy after the trial period but, believe me, it’s worth it. Nothing to do with the rubbish ‘free’ that clog your PC and then at the climax, when they have to do their jobs (eradicate virus) is ‘asleep’ …
Of these there are also versions antivirus larger calls Internet Security (or similar names) that add to the classic antivirus also a form of Internet protection and a firewall: recommend them especially on systems obsolete and no longer be updated as Windows XP will no longer receive updates by Microsoft.
Other software that are used sporadically:
Combofix downloadable HERE
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware can be downloaded from HERE
The first is software that runs one-shot (as JRT) but is a bit more invasive (and therefore dangerous), so I use it by running it in safe mode only and exclusively when a PC is compromised or you can not start.
The second one I find it a bit intrusive, and also need to be installed and a scan that can last a long time. However it is also the most hidden of malicious programs …
